Perimenopause Physiotherapy in Bentley

Build strength and confidence through midlife and beyond

Perhaps exercise feels different, your joints are more uncomfortable, or you’re unsure how to start strength training without aggravating an existing problem.

At FutureReady Physio & Wellness, we help women navigate changes in movement, strength and physical confidence during perimenopause and after menopause.

We’ll listen to what you’ve noticed, assess your concerns and work with you on a practical plan for the activities and future you want.

Has movement started to feel different?

You might be experiencing:

  • Joint or muscle aches that interfere with daily activities.
  • Stiffness or discomfort when exercising.
  • Difficulty maintaining your usual exercise routine.
  • Less confidence with lifting, running or returning to the gym.
  • Concerns about muscle strength or bone health.
  • Uncertainty about where to begin.

You can also book proactively. You don’t need to have pain to get guidance on building strength and exercising confidently.

Understanding the changes without making assumptions

Joint and muscle symptoms can occur around menopause. Changes in sleep, energy and other aspects of health can also make maintaining an exercise routine more difficult.

However, new pain or weakness should not automatically be attributed to hormones. Your assessment will consider your symptoms, health history and current activity, with medical review recommended where appropriate.

Our physiotherapy care focuses on movement, musculoskeletal symptoms and exercise. We can work alongside your GP and other health professionals as part of your wider care.

What happens at your first appointment?

We’ll discuss what has changed, how it affects your life and what you’d like help with. This might include a painful joint, concerns about exercise or a goal to become stronger.

Your physiotherapist will assess relevant movement, strength and function, then explain the findings and discuss your options.

Together, we’ll agree on a starting plan that considers your current ability, symptoms, available time and preferred activities.

Where appropriate, your first appointment may include treatment, practising exercises and advice on adapting your current routine.

Individual physiotherapy and exercise support

Help with pain and movement

We’ll assess the activities that are uncomfortable and explore ways to make them more manageable. Hands-on treatment may be included where appropriate, alongside advice and exercise.

A supported start to strength training

If you’re new to weights or unsure of your technique, we can guide you through exercises in our Bentley rehabilitation gym.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn the movements, find an appropriate starting load and understand how to progress. If you already train, we can help you adjust your program around your symptoms and goals.

Exercise tailored to your health and goals

Your plan may include strengthening, balance, weight-bearing activity and mobility work.

If you have osteoporosis, a previous fracture, an injury or another health condition, we’ll take this into account when selecting and progressing your exercises.

The aim is to develop a routine you can continue, with support and reviews as needed.

Frequently Asked questions

Do I need to know whether I’m in perimenopause?

You can book for pain, changes in movement or exercise guidance without a confirmed menopause diagnosis. Your GP can help assess menopausal symptoms and discuss medical treatment options.

Can I book if I don’t have pain?

Yes. You may want support to begin strength training, review your exercise technique or develop a plan that considers your bone health and current fitness.

What if I already exercise regularly?

We can assess a particular concern and help you adapt your routine. Your plan will build on what you already do and enjoy.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required for a private physiotherapy appointment. If another organisation or funding scheme is paying for your care, contact reception to check the requirements.
