Strength, Balance & Falls Prevention in Bentley

Keep moving confidently and independently

Walking to the shops, climbing stairs, getting out of a chair and enjoying time with family all rely on strength, balance and mobility.

If these activities are becoming harder – or you feel less steady on your feet – we can help you understand what has changed and work towards the things you want to keep doing.

At FutureReady Physio & Wellness, we offer individual physiotherapy, guided exercise rehabilitation and Young Seniors group classes. We’ll help you find a starting point that suits your needs and confidence.

Support for everyday movement

You might have noticed that you:

  • Use your arms more to push yourself out of a chair.
  • Find stairs or longer walks increasingly difficult.
  • Feel uncertain on uneven ground or when changing direction.
  • Have become less active after illness, injury or time away from exercise.
  • Worry about falling or have lost confidence after a fall.

Your goal might be managing the steps at home, walking further, getting around the community or keeping up with your grandchildren. We’ll use what matters to you to guide your plan.

What happens at a strength, balance and mobility assessment?

Your first appointment starts with a conversation about your health, current activity, any falls or near misses, and the movements you find difficult.

Your physiotherapist will assess tasks relevant to your needs. Depending on your situation, this may include:

  • Walking and turning.
  • Getting up from a chair.
  • Leg strength and movement.
  • Balance in different positions.
  • Stepping and negotiating a step.
  • Your confidence and use of any walking aid.

We’ll explain our findings and agree on practical next steps. Where appropriate, we may also recommend discussing contributing factors with your GP or another health professional.

You’ll leave with a starting plan and a clear understanding of what we’re working towards.

Individual exercise and rehabilitation

If you need a program tailored closely to your needs, individual appointments give us time to guide your exercises, adjust the challenge and review your progress.

Your program may include strengthening, balance practice, walking exercises and movements such as standing from a chair or stepping up.

We can help you practise in our rehabilitation gym and develop exercises to continue at home. As your ability and confidence change, we’ll adapt the program with you.

Young Seniors exercise classes

Our Young Seniors classes offer a friendly group setting for older adults who want to stay active and work on strength, balance and everyday movement.

Led by a physiotherapist, the sessions are primarily chair-based, with exercises adapted to participants’ abilities. They may suit you if you’re getting back into exercise, prefer a supported introduction or enjoy the motivation of exercising with others.

Classes are capped at 10 participants.

Enquire about Young Seniors classes if you’re looking for supported group exercise and would like to discuss suitability, times and availability.

A prior assessment is not routinely required to join Young Seniors. If you have concerns about your balance, health or ability to participate, speak with us first so we can help you choose the most appropriate starting point.
