Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral?
For private appointments, no referral is required.
A referral from your GP or another medical practitioner may be required if your treatment is being funded by a third party, such as:
- Workers’ Compensation
- Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance (e.g. ICWA)
- Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)
- Other insurer or third-party funded claims
If you’re unsure whether you need a referral, our team is happy to help.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Depending on the area being assessed or treated, you may be asked to remove or adjust some outer layers of clothing. Your comfort and privacy will always be respected.
How long is a physiotherapy appointment?
Most physiotherapy appointments are 30 minutes.
Longer appointments may be recommended for more complex conditions or specialised assessments. If you’re unsure which appointment type is right for you, our reception team can help.
Do you treat WorkCover, DVA and NDIS clients?
Yes.
We welcome clients funded through:
- Workers’ Compensation
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA)
- Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance
- NDIS (plan-managed and self-managed)
If your treatment is being funded by an insurer, you’ll generally need to provide the relevant referral or approval documentation before your appointment.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
Yes. We offer on-the-spot claiming through our HICAPS terminal, so if you’re covered for physiotherapy, you’ll simply pay the remaining gap after your health fund rebate.
Will I receive exercises to do at home?
In most cases, yes.
Your physiotherapist will provide personalised exercises and practical advice to support your recovery between appointments. These exercises are selected specifically for your condition, goals and stage of rehabilitation.
Do I have to be in pain to see a physiotherapist?
Not at all. Many people see us to improve strength, prevent injuries, prepare for surgery, recover after surgery, improve balance, or stay active as they get older. Physiotherapy isn’t just about treating pain – it’s about helping you move well and stay healthy for the future.
